The Festival of Commons was held for the second consecutive year in Heraklion, Crete on May 9 - 11. This celebration of co-op, offer, solidarity and sharing was attended by community members and growers, seed preservationists, solidarity cooperatives and productive venture partners, free software / gaming users, copyright holders, and gamers, legal, sociologists and political economists, scientists and academics, social activists and ordinary citizens who are interested in sustainable management of the commons.

This year's agenda formed followed an open call, included 24 lectures, 9 seminars, an exhibition, as well as a first meeting of the participating groups on building an Alliance for the Communities.

The information continues, the residents of Lofos and Likoudi settlements will have the opportunity to participate in the event discussion on: "Sarantaporo.gr Wireless Community Networks - Modern citizen-to-citizen infrastructure”, which will take place on Saturday May 24th, 2014.

The aim of the event is to get acquainted with the villagers, to inform them about the activities of our team and especially the implementation of wireless internet access networks in the villages of our area, to present our proposal for further development through the EU Funded project CONFINE, as well as exchanging views and exploring ways of working together to achieve common goals.

The event is open to all residents of the villages, regardless of age and specialty and we would love to see you all there!

Last fall, when the Sarantaporo.gr team was informed that the FP7 project CONFINE announced an open call for new partners to join, in order to expand their research network, the team did not back down and filed a formal proposal on November 14, 2013. The processing of all submitted proposals took more than 3 months until the results of the evaluation were announced on 24 February 2014. Of the 63 proposals submitted in total, Sarantaporo.gr's proposal received a high rating and was accepted, along with another 7, to participate in the program and secure the required funding!
